The 1st UN Regional Tourism Conference on Women’s Empowerment in Tourism in Europe was held

On October 22–23, the 1st UN Regional Tourism Conference on Women’s Empowerment in Tourism in Europe was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The event focused on women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, digital skills, challenging stereotypes in the tourism sector, and ways to remove barriers to women’s economic and social empowerment.

Azerbaijan was represented at this international conference by Sadagat Davudova, Deputy CEO of the Reserves Management Center under the State Tourism Agency. 

She presented Azerbaijan’s experience during the panel discussion on “Gender Equality in Tourism Management.” She highlighted the active role of women in tourism development and cultural heritage sectors in Azerbaijan and noted that government initiatives align with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality.

Over the two-day conference, participants engaged in dialogue with both public and private sector leaders driving social innovation and discussed strategies to address and combat gender inequality in the global tourism sector.
